So for our 5th anniversary my lovely boyfriend surprised me with the best meal of my life at Midsummer House. It was the most amazing way to spend half an afternoon!! After coming across the photos I had major flashback and have been wishing I was back there since.
When we arrived the staff were beyond welcoming, as it was a beautiful day we went up onto the terrace for a drink overlooking the river. It was so lovely and peaceful!!
And then the appetisers started….
First came the beetroot and goats cheese discs. I could of eaten 100 of the them! Then the sour cream and chives puffs.
Next came the deep fried pulled pork with piccalill…
And while I can exactly remember what these little ice cream looking things where but they were delicious.
We went downstairs into the main restaurant and actually started our meal. First came the pallette cleaner.. It was celery mousse thing honestly I wasn’t crazy about it. But it was the only thing on the menu so 1 out of a 100 not bad going.
Then came the first starter.. Corniche crab, avacado and sorrel. This was amazing and one of my favourites!!
Our second dish was the scallop tortellini, cauliflower, caviar and creme fraiche from.im not normally the biggest fan of cauliflower but I could eat this every day.
Next was the roast an out pigeon, crispy leg, wild garlic and morel. This is the best meat dish I have ever eaten!! Hands down!!
Our first of two deserts was aerated pear, blueberry with white chocolate. I didn’t know what to expect when I saw this on the menu but when it arrived I was in awe. I’m very much a desert person and this was a whole new level.
And then they upped their game and brought me this.. Passion fruit, yogurt and dark chocolate..
So after all this we thought dinner was over. Then I decided on a hot chocolate to finish, it was mug of melted chocolate.
Then came the best surprise ever… Churros!! Complete with Apple compote and salted caramel sauce. I have dreams about these!
So now it much really be over right?! Wrong! Next up was the chocolate box. It was no ordinary chocolate box, think willy wonka.. They had all the flavours you’ve never heard of yet have always wanted!
And just when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore out comes the takeaway box filled with more chocolates for later.
All in all the best experience of my life. The best food, the best service and the best way to celebrate 5 years with my very lovely boyfriend. If we could afford to eat here everyday we would!! If you’ve not been here yet you need to go now!! I will be here dreaming of every mouthful.
Love B xx
